When leaves reflect back the blaze of the sun

and display the fierce colors of flame,

When green turns to gold

turns to orange turns to red,

May I, like Moses, turn aside

to see the unexpected:

the glory of God in a simple plant —

to feel the passion:

the burning love of God for all things —

to catch the spark:

the fire of God, which ignites all life.

And like the leaves, may I burn myself out,

and give myself up

for the glory of God,

to the love of God,

in the fire of God in creation.
