Trust that Your Gift is Growing

Christmastide: January 4
Read Mark 4:26-29, Acts 1:6-8, 14 and Acts 2:42

God’s time is not my time, for God transcends time, but I become very impatient when the things or events or growth I want seem to be delayed.  Because of God’s promises, and because of what I can observe in God’s physical world, I can be sure that the seed God has planted in me, the gift God has given me, is growing and will grow.

The one thing I can do to help that growth is to nurture my relationship with God through study, sharing, praise, meditation, and prayer (Acts 1:14, 2:42).  But God gives the growth and the harvest.

Meditation: Sit in silence and wait quietly upon God.Think of yourself as a waiter in a fine restaurant, focusing on one Guest, waiting for any indication from the Special One of what you are to do and when. If there is no indication today, commit yourself to God’s “timetable.” Be that waiter again tomorrow.
